One request, several local companies
The Garage Door Repair Seattle is a referral service. A homeowner with a broken spring, a dead opener or a door hanging off its track describes the problem once, by form or by phone. Independent garage door companies that serve that part of Seattle, WA or the nearby suburbs can then contact the homeowner with questions and quotes.
Using it costs homeowners nothing. There is no obligation to hire anyone who replies, and you can compare more than one company before you decide.
What it isn'tNot a garage door company
We don't repair doors, employ technicians, set prices, schedule visits or offer warranties. We are not a contractor and are not registered with Washington's Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) as one. The company you choose is responsible for its own estimate, work, insurance and warranty terms. We don't inspect, rate or rank the companies, and nothing on this site is an endorsement of any one of them.
How companies take part
Participating companies are independent local businesses. Some may pay The Garage Door Repair Seattle to receive requests, usually a flat amount per request. That payment doesn't change what you pay the company, and it doesn't mean we have checked its work, its insurance or its reviews.
Because we don't verify those things, here is what we suggest you check before you hire anyone:
- L&I registration. Washington requires garage door companies to be registered with the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) as contractors; there is an "Overhead/garage doors" specialty. Registered contractors carry a bond (at least $15,000 for a specialty contractor, $30,000 for a general contractor) and liability insurance, and must show their registration number in ads (RCW 18.27.100). Look any company up on L&I's Verify a Contractor tool.
- A written estimate before work starts, including any trip or diagnostic fee. For jobs of $1,000 or more, the contractor must give you a written "Notice to Customer" before work starts (RCW 18.27.114).
- Warranty terms on parts and labor, in writing.
- An itemized invoice that lists the parts replaced, and your old parts back if you want them.
Know your rights in Washington. Washington's Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86.020) bans unfair or deceptive practices, and consumers can recover actual damages, up to triple damages capped at $25,000, and attorney fees (RCW 19.86.090). Complaints go to the Washington Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division; unregistered contractors can be reported to L&I at 1-888-811-5974. This is general information, not legal advice.
Why this site exists
The city of Seattle has old housing. The median home was built in 1976, and about 22.8% of homes date from before 1940, compared with 10.9% for King County as a whole (American Community Survey 2020–2024). Many of those older houses have a detached garage off an alley or at the back of the lot. Add about 156 days a year with measurable rain at Sea-Tac (NOAA 1991–2020 normals), and springs, cables, rollers and wood doors here see plenty of damp over their working lives.
When a door fails, most people search, call the first number they see and hope for the best. This site tries to slow that down just enough. It gives you dated price ranges from published national guides, Washington consumer basics, safety notes and practical questions to ask, then lets you hear from more than one local company. It also points out the patterns the BBB and the FTC warned about in 2026, such as ads with very low service-call fees, listings with no local address and requests for large upfront payments.

About the name
Several garage door businesses in the Seattle area have names made of the same plain words: garage, door, repair, Seattle. The Garage Door Repair Seattle is not one of them and is not connected to any of them. If a company that contacts you uses a similar name, treat it like any other: ask for its L&I registration number and look it up.
